Let's take a look at just a few of the many wonderful dog parks throughout Long Island:
- Bay Park – 198 First Avenue, East Rockaway, NY 10009
Bay Park is a terrific place to bring the whole family for a relaxing day out, a picnic, or a nice little ball game. The waterfront park offers separate small and large dog runs. You'll find the dog park area on the east side, right out by the ball fields. Open since 1947, you'll want to explore the whole of this nearly 100-acre slice of paradise.
- Cedar Creek Park – 3340 Merrick Road, Seaford, NY 11783
Cedar Creek Park has been around since 1975 and is one of the biggest parks in the Nassau County Park System, with nearly 260 acres of fun for everyone. With eight handball courts, three basketball courts, and a whole slew of athletic fields, it's no surprise there's also a dog run. You can find the dog run over in parking field #7.
- Wantagh Park – 1 King Road, Wantagh, NY 11793
Wantagh Park is well known for its beautiful views of the water and offers access to one of the top marinas in the county. Open since 1961, it tops out at just over 110 acres. Many visitors come from all throughout Long Island simply to enjoy the view. Of course, your dog will be most excited about the large run for dogs.
- Eisenhower Park – Corner of Merrick Avenue and Stewart Avenue, East Meadow, NY 11554
Eisenhower Park is a sprawling park boasting more than 900 gorgeous acres in the heart of East Meadow. It is one of the largest public spaces anywhere in the New York Metro and is even bigger than the world-renowned Central Park. In addition to the dog park, it has celebrated facilities for both swimming and golf.
- Old Bethpage Village – 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage, NY 11804
Old Bethpage Village is a historic park open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. As a "living history museum," it transports visitors back to the 19th century. With more than 200 acres, you'll find a wide range of painstakingly reconstructed homes, farms, and businesses – as well as a beloved dog run.
- Christopher Morley Park – 500 Searingtown Road North, Roslyn, NY 11576
Christopher Morley Park is dedicated to the prominent 20th-century writer and editor Christopher Morley. As you visit the dog park within the larger Christopher Morley property, you'll be in luck: "The Knothole," a one-room wooden cabin used by Morley himself, is located just steps from the dedicated dog area.
