March
11

Springtime is the perfect opportunity to eat fresh and try out some healthy meals. Stop by these Long Island restaurants to experience great veggie dishes.

Dining out can be a landmine for anyone trying to stick to a diet. A lot of restaurant food is loaded with enough carbs, fat, sodium to create a challenge for even the most determined healthy eaters. However, when you live on Long Island, eating healthy while dining out is easy, and you don't have to sacrifice flavor and quality. March is Nutrition Month  a time to carefully reflect on the quality of the food we eat. Our real estate agents thought it'd be the perfect time to share a list of some of our favorite restaurants for clean eating around Long Island.

  • The Purple Elephant - 81b W Fort Salonga Rd, Northport, NY 11768
A beach-themed restaurant situated on Northport Bay, The Purple Elephant serves healthy, clean Latin-inspired dishes and creative vegan options. From the colorful decor to the flavorful entrees, this eatery is quite a dining experience. The Purple Elephant is highly known for its excellent taco selection and empanadas. Need to grab dinner on the go? Take-out orders are 20% off after 4 pm on Tuesdays, and there are some nice Northport homes for sale just a few miles away from the restaurant.

  • Rock n Roots - 469 Willis Ave, Williston Park, NY 11596
Rock n Roots is a a family-owned, plant-based eatery serving healthy sandwiches, soups, sushi, breakfasts, and smoothies as well as some tasty desserts. If you need a quick meal, there are healthy, prepared meals ready to grab in the refrigerator. March's special is a healthy Philly Cheesesteak made with mushroom "meat" and topped with peppers, onions, and a special cheese sauce. Grabbing a bite from this healthy food stop is easy if you live in one of these Nassau County homes for sale.

  • Tula - 41 E Main St, Bay Shore, NY 11706
Eating healthy at Tula is easy. All vegetarian proteins are organic and chicken is antibiotic and hormone free. Entrees are baked, not fried and most dishes are gluten-free. All micro greens come from a local nonprofit and all water lines are completely filtered to ensure all drinks and food are free of contaminants. Tula is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Popular entrees include Almond Crusted Chicken, Balsamic Glazed Salmon, Chicken Shawarma, and many more.

  • Green Street Eatery - 7 Emerson Ave, Levittown, NY 11756
Former winner of the Best of Long Island's "Best Vegetarian Restaurant" and "Best Food Truck" awards, Green Street Eatery might be the top clean-eating establishment on Long Island. Bowls, sandwiches, and tacos are the highlights of this menu, but the smoothies are some of the best in the area. If you need a sweet treat, this eatery also serves gluten-free, vegan desserts that can be beautifully decorated for any occasion.

  • Zen Garden - 1 Great Neck Rd, Great Neck Plaza, NY 11021
Freshly-made vegan Asian cuisine with tons of flavor, the menu at Zen Garden is loaded with Vegetarian versions of classic dishes like Sesame Beef and Crispy Walnut Shrimp, but they also have a healthy twist. Fresh soups and sushi are also highlights — and don't forget to try a cup of flowering tea. Enjoy dinner in the comfortable, contemporary dining room atmosphere, which offers a slightly upscale vibe.
