No Long Island visit is complete without some essential stops you can't experience anywhere else. Here are the local attractions you need to see.

With beautiful parks and beaches, a rich history, and some of the best farms and wineries on the East Coast, Long Island has a lot to offer to locals and tourists. With 1,401 square miles, it seems as if there is always something new and fun to discover. Our real estate agents are often asked about the best places to go to truly get the full Long Island experience, and below are some of our best recommendations.

  • Oheka Castle - 135 W Gate Dr, Huntington, NY 11743
Many consider Oheka Castle to be the most beautiful estate on Long Island and a true highlight of the Gold Coast Mansions. This property served as inspiration for F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. Schedule a mansion tour, book a night in the onsite hotel, or enjoy dinner in the OHK Bar & Restaurant. If you'd like to live near this architectural masterpiece, we know of some nice Huntington homes for sale down the road.

  • Harbes Family Farm - 715 Sound Ave, Mattituck, NY 11952
Apple picking, a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, and hayrides — Harbes is the quintessential family farm experience. This is one of our favorite places to take the family in the fall. There are plenty of weekend activities for kids, and wine tastings and live music for adults. You'll also love the farmhouse shop where you can purchase locally grown products.

  • Old Westbury Gardens - 71 Old Westbury Rd, Old Westbury, NY 11568
Another beautiful Long Island estate, Old Westbury Gardens is the former home of John S. Phipps. It's a Charles II-style mansion surrounded by 200 acres of meticulously maintained landscaping, gardens, and ponds. Tours are available for both the estate and the gardens, and the property hosts fun and educational events throughout the year. It's also a popular place for wedding and engagement photos!

  • Montauk Point State Park - 2000 Old Montauk Hwy, Montauk, NY 11954
Montauk Point State Park sits on the eastern tip of the South Shore of Long Island where the Atlantic Ocean converges with the Block Island Sound. It's one of the most unique seascapes in all of Long Island. You can catch great glimpses of the coast by walking along the rocky shoreline, and we highly recommend a visit to the picturesque Montauk Lighthouse. If you love to fish, this is one of the most popular spots in New York. There is plenty of parking available as well as nearby shops and restaurants.

  • Adventureland - 2245 Broadhollow Rd, Farmingdale, NY 11735
Long Island's classic amusement park is Adventureland. This park has been at the center of family fun and memories since 1962. Have a blast on thrill rides and water rides, or play some games in the arcade. Many rides are suitable for young children, and you'll have the option to dine at several restaurants, snack stands, and a food court. If you think your family would enjoy this Long Island staple, we highly recommend scheduling your tour of one of these nearby Farmingdale homes for sale.

Visiting these destinations will give you a try taste of Long Island culture. Contact us today to start your home search.
