Ice skating with friends and family might be the perfect winter activity. Here are the local rinks to visit.

Our real estate agents are always looking for fun ways to enjoy the winter around Long Island, and ice skating is always at the top of the list. Ice skating is great exercise and tons of fun. Like any activity, it can help you to relieve stress and develop self-confidence as you master the skill. Plus, it's tons of fun for the kids.

Whether you aspire to be a figure skater or hockey player, or just like to glide around the ice, there are many great indoor ice skating rinks around Long Island. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Long Beach Municipal Ice Arena - 150 W Bay Dr, Long Beach, NY 11561
    This Long Beach ice skating arena is one of the best places around Long Island to learn how to skate. Long Beach Municipal Ice Arena is open year-round for public skating, skating lessons, freestyle figure skating, and both adult and youth hockey programs. Admission for public skating is only $10, and skate rentals are only $5. Freestyle and hockey admission is $20. Best of all, the arena is conveniently located near these Long Beach homes for sale.

  • The Rinx - 660 Terry Rd b, Hauppauge, NY 11788
    A family recreation destination, the Rinx offers Learn to Skate and Learn To Figure Skate programs in Hauppauge. These programs are staffed by experienced skating professionals and are suitable for both kids and adults. You can also rent the rink for your own private birthday party or special event. The Rinx also has a pro shop on site where you can find some quality new skates or hockey gear.

  • Superior Ice Rink - 70 Indian Head Rd, Kings Park, NY 11754
    Public skating, hockey leagues, party rentals, and skating lessons are offered at the Superior Ice Rink. This indoor facility is a great place for some family fun. It has a nice rink, a spectator area, a pro shop, and a snack bar. Public skate admission is $15 on Friday nights and $10 for the rest of the week. Skate rentals are $5.

  • Islanders Iceworks - 175 Underhill Boulevard, Syosset, NY 11791
    Another great place to learn how to skate or play hockey is at the practice facility of the New York Islanders. The Islanders Iceworks facility offers premier hockey and figure skating training with levels ranging from beginner to elite. Hockey training programs include instruction from the the Islanders' players and coaches. This premier arena is just a few miles away from some of our favorite Syosset homes for sale.

  • Iceland Long Island - 3345 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11040
    No matter your skating ability, Iceland Long Island has a program for you. Sign-up for a 6-week skating school session, private lessons, and hockey leagues, or go and enjoy a casual public skate or puck shoot. There is also a concession stand with food and refreshments.
