The smell of the sea, the sound of waves, views of the setting sun — what better way to spend an autumn evening than by taking a stroll on your favorite Long Island boardwalk? We can't think of a better evening activity, as it helps us to simultaneously relax and get our steps in before the end of the day. Our local boardwalks also offer the chance to see some stunning Long Island seascapes, wetlands, lighthouses, and more.
Evening boardwalk strolls are a favorite pastime of our real estate agents. Here are some of their favorite spots:
- Jones Beach Boardwalk - 2600 Ocean Parkway, Wantagh, NY
Jones Beach is one of the most popular vacation destinations on Long Island, and its amazing boardwalk is one of the reasons why. It runs south and parallel to Ocean Parkway and offers beautiful views of the beach and ocean. Browse numerous shops or stop and grab something to eat at one of the local concession stands or at the Boardwalk Cafe.
- Fire Island Boardwalk - Fire Island, NY
This boardwalk was recently restored after it was damaged during Hurricane Sandy, and it gives you the chance to enjoy the natural beauty of Fire Island. It's about three-quarters of a mile long and can be accessed from either end of Fire Island National Seashore. The boardwalk will lead you right up to the Fire Island Lighthouse and offers some great photo ops. This beautiful area is just a short drive from these amazing Suffolk County homes for sale.
- Long Beach Boardwalk - Pacific Boulevard, Long Beach, NY
Another boardwalk that has been completely restored after Hurricane Sandy, the Long Beach Boardwalk is 2.2 miles and a great spot for walking, jogging, or biking. The boardwalk runs parallel to the ocean and takes you past many shops, restaurants, and hotels.
- Captree State Park Boardwalk - 3500 Ocean Pkwy, Bay Shore, NY
Captree State Park is a popular fishing and crabbing location, but it also has a fantastic boardwalk that offers beautiful views of Fire Island and the Fire Island Lighthouse. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful. Parking is $8 to $10 during peak hours or free with an Empire Passport.
- Atlantic Beach Boardwalk - Genessee or Plaza Boulevards, Atlantic Beach, NY
Atlantic Beach has some of the most well-maintained seashores on Long Island, so it's no surprise the beach is home to an amazing boardwalk as well. There are many shops and restaurants around, so the area makes for a great night out. After dinner, head over to the boardwalk for a stroll, it's open all year long.
- Lake Land County Park Boardwalk - Johnson Ave, Islandia, NY
If you want to take some great wildlife pictures on your stroll, check out Lake Land County Park Boardwalk. It extends over the Connetquot River and the wetlands, which have tons of fish and birds. It's also a fantastic place to see the fall foliage.
